Nagpur, Dec 9 (NationPress) The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has ratified the updated alignment for the Nagpur-Chandrapur Expressway on Tuesday.
This new alignment stretches over a total distance of 204 kilometers and integrates feedback gathered from the Central government's Gati Shakti Portal.
The revised route will link the Seldoh Interchange on the Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg to Navegaon (Mor) on the Durg-Hyderabad National Highway.
The committee has also sanctioned an extension for the deadline concerning the privatization and development of plots in Mumbai, particularly in Ghatkopar East, Chembur, Andheri (West), Ambivali Mudran Kamgar Nagar, and Chunabhatti.
Chief Minister Fadnavis underscored the government’s commitment to addressing traffic congestion arising from rapid urbanization. He has instructed that various actions be taken to alleviate traffic delays on the Hadapsar to Yavat route in Pune district.
He stressed that any measures, including road enhancements and the construction of an elevated highway on this route, must be carried out without causing disruption to the public.
Additionally, he called for urgent measures to tackle the traffic snarl near Bhairoba Nala.
Fadnavis directed that all ongoing and proposed infrastructure initiatives in the state must first obtain clearance from the Gati Shakti Portal.
He mandated that every project should only be brought before the Committee meeting after securing the necessary Gati Shakti approval.
Simultaneously, the Chief Minister introduced the 'Zebru' Mascot for the road safety awareness initiative, asserting that it will enhance efforts in accident prevention.
He urged citizens to adhere to traffic regulations and engage in the road safety campaign, embracing the core principle: 'Road Safety is Life Safety' (Rasta Suraksha Jeevan Raksha).
In his opening remarks, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik noted that the 'Zebru' mascot serves as a symbol of road safety, adding that the campaign will be executed with the understanding that pedestrians possess the primary right (Pahila Hakka Padcharyancha).
He mentioned that 'Zebru' will reach every part of the state, emphasizing that the campaign aims to ensure 'Zebru' becomes the heart of road safety.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also instructed the Urban Development Department to create regulations for the removal of encroachments on footpaths without taking down the railings.
