Katra, March 19 (NationPress) An immense gathering of devotees has arrived at the esteemed shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir's Katra, coinciding with the launch of the nine-day celebration of Chaitra Navratri. The Shrine Board has implemented comprehensive arrangements to accommodate the significant influx of pilgrims, an official reported on Thursday.
During a press briefing in Katra, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, the Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, highlighted the extensive measures taken to assist devotees participating in this sacred event.
On Thursday, long lines of pilgrims were noted at the shrine as thousands began their journey to offer prayers on the inaugural day of Chaitra Navratri.
The sacred 'Shat Chandi Maha Yagya' also initiated at the Holy cave shrine on Thursday, signifying the official commencement of the nine-day festival.
This yagya, coordinated by the Shrine Board, will persist throughout the Navratri period and culminate with 'Purnahuti' (complete offering) on Mahanavami on March 26.
Officials stated that these rituals aim to invoke divine blessings for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of humanity.
Kumar, accompanied by Shrine Board officers, staff, and numerous devotees, participated in the ceremony.
The yagya proceedings will be broadcast live daily on MH1 Shradha, allowing devotees nationwide and internationally to observe the rituals.
Following directives from Manoj Sinha, the Chairman of the Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and J&K Lieutenant Governor, extensive provisions have been established throughout the shrine area to ensure the smooth flow of pilgrims.
The shrine complex at Bhawan, Attka, and adjacent sectors has been adorned with local and exotic flowers and fruits, alongside grand reception gates and colorful lighting, creating a spiritually uplifting ambiance for the devotees trekking from Katra to the shrine.
The Shrine Board has also secured round-the-clock water and power supply, enhanced sanitation services, and medical facilities.
Food suitable for fasting is being provided at langars and bhojanalayas for devotees observing Navratri fasts.
Special attention has been given to accessibility, with complimentary pony and battery car services arranged for 'Divyang' (differently-abled) pilgrims.
A newly inaugurated 'Sadhna Kaksh' (meditation hall) has been established at the Bhawan, while dedicated help desks have been set up at strategic locations along the route to assist pilgrims.
Morning and evening 'Attka Aarti' during Navratri will also showcase devotional performances by renowned artists, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
The Shrine Board has reiterated its commitment to providing a safe, seamless, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience for all devotees during this sacred festival.
