Mumbai, Jan 28 (NationPress) The tragic demise of Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the National President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), occurred on Wednesday morning due to an air crash in Baramati. This incident has been described by top leaders as a “Black Day” for the state.

Praful Patel, the NCP National Working President and Member of Parliament, expressed profound sorrow over the loss of his longtime colleague.

“A pillar of support has been lost. Throughout a political journey of 35 years, Ajit Dada guided countless party workers and relentlessly advocated for the rights of farmers, youth, and women. Our relationship extended beyond politics and was truly personal,” Patel stated.

He highlighted Ajit Pawar’s talent for making difficult decisions while maintaining strong ties to his rural origins, establishing him as a distinctive statesman.

Patel also conveyed his condolences to the Pawar family, praying for their strength to endure this significant loss.

Sunil Tatkare, the Maharashtra NCP President and MP, shared his deep sorrow, stating that the party has lost its guiding light.

“Ajit Dada was more than just a leader; he was the patriarch of our family. His unexpected passing is devastating. Maharashtra has lost an exceptional administrator, a scholar, and a leader who was unwaveringly dedicated to rural development,” Tatkare remarked.

Tatkare emphasized Ajit Pawar’s steadfast commitment to the ideologies of Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar and his continuous efforts to ensure that government programs benefitted even the most marginalized individuals in society.

“His compassion for farmers and his strong grasp of administration acted as a guiding compass for us all,” he added.

Nawab Malik, a senior NCP leader and former minister, paid an emotional tribute, recalling how Pawar supported him during his most challenging times.

“Ajit Dada was not merely a leader to me; he was the foundation of my family. During my toughest battles, he stood beside us like a shield. I will always remember that support,” Malik said.

Malik pointed out that Ajit Pawar was a man of integrity, and his passing represents an irreparable loss for the entire state.

In the meantime, NCP supporters throughout Maharashtra are observing a mourning period for their beloved leader, affectionately known as 'Dada.'

Party officials and members gathered at the Mumbai office expressed, “The sudden loss of our party President, Ajit Pawar, signifies the conclusion of an era in Maharashtra's political landscape.
