Mumbai, April 15 (NationPress) The Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation has officially signed MoUs aimed at establishing advanced laboratories in 20 industrial training institutes (ITIs). These agreements will facilitate fairs to provide training for micro and small entrepreneurs, boost employment, and enhance technical education opportunities for students with disabilities enrolled in ITIs throughout the state.

The MoUs were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with organizations including the Sri Sri Rural Development Program Trust from Bangalore, Schneider Electric India Foundation, Deasara Foundation from Pune, and Project Mumbai in Andheri.

A tripartite agreement was reached between the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training and the Sri Sri Rural Development Program Trust, focusing on delivering new technology and industrial training to the youth.

Sri Sri Rural Development Program Trust is a charitable entity that engages in various initiatives to provide soft skills, leadership training, and vocational education to help trainees secure employment and practice self-employment. Meanwhile, Schneider Electric India Foundation aims to enhance education and skill training opportunities for the youth through its social responsibility funds.

Over the next three years, the Schneider Electric India Foundation will improve the quality of electrician workshops in 20 government ITIs and establish a solar technician lab along with an industrial automation lab.

Additionally, they will offer a complimentary 15-day training session in modern technology and soft skills for artisans in the electrical sector located in Bangalore.

This collaboration is set to benefit 9750 trainees with training in modern technology and industrial automation across the electrician and renewable energy sectors, implemented in phases over the next four years. The ITIs selected for these programs span regions including Mumbai, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nagpur, Amravati, and Nashik.

The training initiative will unfold over four years, starting in 2025-26, with plans to increase the number of ITIs and trainees annually.

In the inaugural year, 1,500 youths will be trained at 10 centers, followed by 2,250 at 15 centers in the second year, and 3,000 each in the third and fourth years.

As a result of this MoU, 9,750 trainees will gain exposure to training in electricians and modern technology alongside industrial automation in the renewable energy field over the next four years.

Moreover, the Maharashtra State Innovation Society also entered into an MoU with the Deasara Foundation to provide support to micro and small entrepreneurs via training, expert guidance, and professional development programs. Entrepreneurial meetups will be organized in various districts to benefit approximately 5,000 individuals, including aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage startups.

The government announcement indicated that the Deasara Foundation will offer vital support and guidance to help entrepreneurs initiate and expand their ventures.

This collaboration will encompass aspects of business management, financial assistance, marketing, and financial literacy, alongside organizing training sessions under expert supervision to enhance entrepreneurial capabilities and foster a supportive environment for entrepreneurship.

Additionally, the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training and Project Mumbai signed an MoU aimed at improving technical education and job opportunities for students with disabilities in ITIs. Project Mumbai is engaged in various social initiatives.

This MoU will see collaboration with the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training focusing on students with disabilities.

A Joint Working Committee consisting of five members—three from the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training and two from Project Mumbai—will be established under this MoU.

This committee will develop specialized skill training programs for students with disabilities, create curricula in Indian Sign Languages, train teachers, and coordinate on-the-job training programs in partnership with industry.
