Mumbai, July 7 (NationPress) Maharashtra Industry Minister Uday Samant asserted on Monday that Maharashtra stands out as the top investment hub and is rapidly executing its signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs).
During a session in the state assembly, he revealed that 90 percent of the MoUs, totaling Rs 15.72 lakh crore signed at the Davos summit, are currently in various phases of execution.
He responded to the opposition’s skepticism regarding the implementation of these agreements.
“A remarkable 90 percent of the MoUs aimed at industrial investments in Maharashtra are being actively put into action, making our state the first in the nation to initiate this process following their signing. Of the 46 MoUs established in Davos in January 2025, land has been allocated to 15 industries. The land distribution for 7 additional industries is in progress, while alternative land options are being provided for 20 industries that were dissatisfied with their initial plots,” Samant stated during a debate under assembly rule 293 proposed by treasury bench members in the Legislative Assembly.
He emphasized that Gadchiroli, previously recognized as a Maoist stronghold, is set to transform into a steel manufacturing hub, with over Rs 1 lakh crore in investment proposals received for the area.
“The land allocation process for all industries establishing themselves in Gadchiroli has been concluded. The developments here will also benefit adjacent districts such as Chandrapur, Bhandara, and Gondia,” Minister Samant remarked.
Furthermore, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has attracted investment proposals amounting to Rs 60,000 crore across various sectors, with Raigad district emerging as a burgeoning industrial center.
“We have successfully facilitated investments of Rs 30,000 crore in Ratnagiri district. The Industries Department is committed to ensuring balanced industrial growth throughout Maharashtra,” he added.
Samant also announced that the long-awaited Navi Mumbai Airport is now 95 percent complete, with its first phase expected to wrap up by September.
Addressing the controversy surrounding the introduction of Hindi from grade one, Minister Samant confirmed that the Mashelkar Committee report advocating for the mandatory teaching of Hindi, which was approved by the Uddhav Thackeray government, will be presented to the House, with copies distributed to all MLAs.
Additionally, he clarified that while there was a mandate previously, there is no such requirement at present.
“To those who engage in political discourse regarding Marathi, I want to assure you that this government is dedicated to the further advancement of the Marathi language,” he concluded.
