New Delhi, July 19 (NationPress) Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan criticized the Bihar government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday, attributing the worsening law and order situation in the state to its leadership.

He pointed to the recent daylight murder at Paras Hospital in Patna, where five assailants entered and killed another criminal receiving treatment. This incident exemplifies both the boldness of criminals and the government's failure.

In his remarks, Paswan emphasized that upholding law and order is a key duty of the state under India's federal framework.

“When the Prime Minister initiates development programs, his intentions are evident. He envisions transforming Bihar into a developed state. However, matters of law and order clearly fall under the jurisdiction of state governments. Therefore, blaming the Prime Minister is unjust, but it is indeed a significant concern for all of us,” he stated.

Previously, Paswan took to social media platform X, expressing, “Murders occur daily. Criminals are emboldened. The police and administration's strategy is puzzling. The attack at Paras Hospital in Patna’s residential area demonstrates that criminals are openly defying the law and the authorities.”

Paswan also addressed the Opposition’s recent accusations of voter list manipulation in Bihar, dismissing these claims as unfounded and hasty.

“Firstly, allegations of voter list tampering are being made. But how can there be tampering if the process has not been finalized? Has the voter list work been completed? The Opposition is merely spreading misinformation,” he remarked.

He staunchly defended the Election Commission, asserting its commitment to conducting the electoral process with integrity.

“The Election Commission is operating with full transparency. If that were not the case, we would have raised concerns ourselves. My party and I would certainly do so. You all know I and my party do not shy away from condemning injustice, regardless of its source, even within our own government,” he concluded.

Point of View

We recognize the seriousness of law and order in any state. The comments made by Chirag Paswan highlight the urgent need for accountability in governance. While the federal structure defines responsibilities, it also demands that state leaders take decisive action to ensure the safety of their citizens. The situation in Bihar requires immediate attention and effective measures to restore public confidence.
