Lucknow, July 13 (NationPress) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, convened a meeting on Sunday to strategize on fortifying the party's structure across seven states: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.
She raised alarms over the escalating religious discord and violence stemming from language and caste matters, advocating for the safety of individuals from other states residing in Mumbai, the nation's financial hub.
In light of recent attacks against non-Marathi speakers in Mumbai, Mayawati urged both the state and central governments to ensure security for everyone.
“Mumbai is the financial heart of our country, and it connects people from all states,” she emphasized.
Addressing the language dispute, Mayawati indicated that such alarming trends arise from the narrow politics surrounding religion, region, caste, and language, which threaten to obscure the essence of patriotism and national unity.
Additionally, the BSP leader called on state administrations to prioritize crucial public issues such as inflation, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, and health, alongside maintaining law and order.
During the meeting, Mayawati reviewed progress reports from various state units and examined the formation of organizational committees as per directives from the party's special meeting held in Lucknow on March 2.
The gathering also saw participation from the Central Coordinator and in-charge of all these states, former MP Rajaram, and Atar Singh Rao, a former MLC, along with senior officials from state units.
Mayawati instructed members to address any deficiencies in strengthening state units and to propagate the message of self-respect and dignity advocated by Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Furthermore, she urged party workers to uphold the Ambedkarite and humanitarian ethos of the party, aiming to uplift the lives of millions of Dalits, tribals, other backward classes, and minorities.
The former UP Chief Minister also motivated party workers to assist the underprivileged, fostering social, political, and economic empowerment as envisioned in the Constitution.
