New Delhi, Nov 30 (NationPress) On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta exercised her voting rights during the MCD bye-election at the AP Block in Shalimar Bagh. She encouraged voters across all 12 wards, where the elections are taking place, to emerge from their residences and utilize their voting power to contribute to a 'Viksit Delhi'.
Accompanied by her husband, Manish Gupta, and family members, the Chief Minister cast her vote at her designated polling booth.
After casting her vote, she engaged with reporters, standing in front of a selfie booth, stating, "This is a celebration of democracy, as bye-elections are being conducted for 12 seats in Delhi. I urge the people of Delhi, particularly those in these 12 wards, to maximize their voting participation.”
She added, "By voting, they can select the most capable representatives, facilitating the growth of Delhi. It’s essential for every citizen to uphold their voting rights. The more that our youth, women, and seniors actively participate in this bye-election, the clearer democracy’s vibrant image will become for all to witness.”
Speaking to the media outside the polling station, CM's husband Manish Gupta remarked, "We have voted together as a family.”
He praised his wife for her dedication and hard work, despite facing criticism from opposition parties, emphasizing, "Our responsibilities lie in our work; others are creating issues. We have been consistently fulfilling our duties.”
On social media platform X, the CM remarked, "Today, during the municipal corporation bye-election, I fulfilled my democratic duty by voting with my family at my polling booth. Engaging in the voting process is a crucial part of our democracy, and our active involvement bolsters democratic values.”
She further urged all voters to attend polling stations in large numbers and cast their important votes. "Each of your votes significantly influences not only local governance but also establishes a robust foundation for the overall progress of Delhi, ensuring good governance and transparency," the Chief Minister emphasized, underlining the 'Mission Viksit Delhi'.
Approximately 698,000 registered voters will determine the outcomes for 51 candidates in the 12 MCD wards, where voting commenced at 7:30 a.m. and will conclude at 5:30 p.m.. Results will be announced on December 3.
A total of 580 polling stations have been established for the bye-elections across the 12 wards, which include Mundka, Shalimar Bagh-B, Ashok Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Chandni Mahal, Dwarka B, Dichaon Kalan, Naraina, Sangam Vihar-A, Dakshin Puri (SC), Greater Kailash, and Vinod Nagar.
