Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate, lay foundation stones for, and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth approximately ₹9,377 crore in Telangana on Sunday, 11 May 2025, during his first visit to the state since assuming office for a third term. The event, to be held at HICC, Cyberabad, will see the virtual inauguration of flagship projects including the Zaheerabad Industrial Area in Sangareddy district and the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with state ministers and senior officials, are scheduled to attend the ceremony.
Zaheerabad Industrial Area: A Smart Industrial Township
The Zaheerabad Industrial Area is being developed under the Hyderabad–Nagpur Industrial Corridor (HNIC), as part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. Spread across 3,245 acres in Sangareddy district, the project carries a total cost of over ₹2,360 crore and is strategically positioned along National Highway-65.
Envisioned as a smart integrated industrial township, the area is designed to offer seamless multimodal connectivity to major cities, ports, rail networks, and airports. It is expected to attract investments of approximately ₹10,000 crore and generate employment for around 1.74 lakh people. Key focus sectors include logistics, auto components, electrical and electronics, machinery equipment, metals, and food processing.
Kakatiya Mega Textile Park: India's First Fully Functional PM MITRA Park
The PM MITRA Park at Warangal, also known as the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, has been developed under the Centre's PM MITRA Scheme at an estimated cost of around ₹1,700 crore. According to officials, it is India's first fully functional PM MITRA Park and operationalises the Centre's 5F vision — Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.
The park is strategically located near the proposed Nagpur-Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway (NH-163G) and in proximity to NH-163, offering multimodal connectivity to major railway networks and seaports. Once fully operational, the park is expected to generate over 24,400 jobs; it has already provided employment to 2,000 people. The facility features a dedicated power substation, assured water supply, and a Common Effluent Treatment Plant with Zero Liquid Discharge technology, underlining its sustainable development focus.
Highway and Railway Infrastructure Projects
Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of National Highway-167 from Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar on the Hyderabad-Panaji Economic Corridor, at a total project cost of over ₹3,175 crore. The project is expected to reduce travel time by nearly 1 hour 30 minutes, lower fuel consumption, and strengthen connectivity between Telangana and Karnataka.
Railway infrastructure worth around ₹1,535 crore will also be dedicated to the nation, including multiple sections of the Kazipet-Vijayawada multi-tracking project covering 118 km. This work is aimed at enhancing line capacity on the busy Grand Trunk corridor, reducing congestion, and improving freight movement. Additionally, the Kazipet Rail Under Rail Bypass will be dedicated to the nation, enabling simultaneous train movements towards Hyderabad, Balharshah, and Vijayawada.
Indian Oil's Malkapur Terminal
Indian Oil's Malkapur Terminal Project at Hyderabad, developed at a cost of more than ₹600 crore, will also be dedicated to the nation. The terminal has a total tankage capacity of 1,65,000 kilolitres (KL) and has been established to augment petroleum product handling capacity and meet the region's growing energy demand.
Taken together, these projects reflect what officials describe as the Centre's vision of Viksit Telangana for Viksit Bharat, focused on integrated infrastructure development across industry, transport, and energy. The scale and sectoral spread of Sunday's event signal an intensified push for investment and employment generation in the state ahead of its continued political and economic evolution.
