Ujjain, July 12 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to address the 'Nishadraj Sammelan' in Ujjain this Saturday, focusing on enhancing the revenue of the fishing community and promoting the state's fisheries-centric development framework.
The event is organized by the Madhya Pradesh Fisheries Federation (MPFF) and the Department of Fisheries, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making fisheries a catalyst for economic growth.
This state-level 'sammelan' will take place at the premises of Kalidas Sanskrit Academy in Ujjain, where a significant number of fishers from across the state are expected to gather.
The program is slated to start at 1 p.m., as per the official announcement.
During this occasion, Chief Minister Yadav will virtually conduct the 'bhoomipoojan' for several key initiatives, which include 453 Smart Fish Parlours valued at Rs 22.65 crore.
He will also initiate the 'bhoomipoojan' for an aquapark being developed at an investment of Rs 40 crore, and enhance fish production and job creation through 3,060 cages at the Indira Sagar Reservoir, with a total investment of Rs 91.80 crore during the event.
Additionally, CM Yadav will distribute sanction letters for 430 motorcycles equipped with ice boxes, along with 100 units of sanction letters for 396 fish cages and feed mill beneficiaries, and present awards to outstanding fishermen and fisheries cooperative societies for their remarkable contributions.
Moreover, the Chief Minister will electronically transfer Rs 9.63 crore in deferred wages to members of the State Fisheries Federation and will also distribute royalty cheques.
The government highlighted that Madhya Pradesh encompasses a total water area of 4.42 lakh hectares, where fish farming is practiced in 4.40 lakh hectares.
It was noted that the state achieved 98% of its fish production target last year, yielding 3.81 lakh metric tonnes. There are 2,595 registered fishermen cooperative societies with 95,417 members actively engaged in fish farming.
Later in the evening, Chief Minister Yadav is scheduled to depart for New Delhi.
