Indore, July 23 (NationPress) A gold merchant hailing from Gujarat has lodged a formal complaint in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, claiming that his gold jewellery worth over Rs. 4.80 crore has been misappropriated by one of his agents.
The local police in Indore reported that Dharmendra Bhai, the Ahmedabad-based gold trader, dispatched two agents to Indore. However, one of these agents fled with both the gold jewellery and the vehicle they had driven from Ahmedabad to Indore.
According to Dharmendra's statement to the authorities, the agents were tasked with meeting local jewellers to evaluate the true worth of the jewellery. Unfortunately, upon their arrival in Indore, one agent vanished along with the gold and the car.
This incident transpired more than a week ago, but it only came to light when Dharmendra approached the Indore Crime Branch and filed an FIR on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Rajesh Tripathi, informed the media on Wednesday that the gold merchant, along with his remaining agents, conducted a search in Indore for over a week.
"Upon their arrival, both agents visited several local jewellers. One morning, while they were at a salon for haircuts, one agent left for his haircut, and the other drove off with the car. The gold merchant attempted to locate him but was unsuccessful. He then reported the matter to the police on Tuesday," Tripathi explained.
The police official added that the gold merchant provided original receipts for his jewellery and the registration number of his shop in Ahmedabad.
Following verification of these documents, a case was officially filed against the missing agent.
"The vehicle used by the accused has been captured on multiple CCTV cameras. An alert has been issued at all police stations in Indore. We are optimistic about resolving the case soon," Tripathi concluded.
