Bhopal, July 3 (NationPress) In an effort to curb the growing issue of slum proliferation in urban locales, Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced the directive to formulate a strategic plan aimed at creating affordable and accessible housing solutions within the cities.
During a meeting convened with the Urban Development and Housing Department, Yadav emphasized the necessity of conducting a thorough survey of unauthorized constructions surrounding Bhopal’s Upper Lake and initiating a campaign to address these violations.
The Chief Minister proposed the engagement of reputable national builders and developers in the urban colony development process.
He also highlighted the urgent need for modernization of fire services to effectively respond to emergencies in both urban and industrial zones.
Stressing on the enhancement of the urban environment, he pointed out that parks should be established, and tree planting initiatives should be encouraged in all housing developments, including those by development authorities and the Housing Board.
Following the meeting, Chief Minister Yadav mentioned that he would be discussing with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to seek assistance for expanding intra-city rail connectivity in Madhya Pradesh through the 'Namo Train' service.
He instructed that homes constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and other related schemes should be allocated promptly once the ownership processes are finalized.
Emphasizing the significance of a clean urban landscape, he stated that designated land in cities should be identified and transformed into city forests (Nagar Vans), with clear maintenance responsibilities assigned.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister advocated for the expansion of the Deendayal Rasoi Yojana in religious zones, with backing from both the government and private donors.
He also suggested the formation of self-help groups in urban areas to establish modern laundry services, ensuring financial support and adequate space are provided.
