Bhopal, Nov 19 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel received a group of senior diplomats from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
In the course of the meeting, the Governor remarked that India and ASEAN nations are united by a rich tapestry of shared civilization. He highlighted that the Act East Policy of the Indian government represents Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foresight.
"This initiative bolsters our common history, cultural foundations, and a future of prosperous collaboration between India and Southeast Asia. Both regions are characterized by youthful demographics, robust innovation potential, diverse cultures, and a collective commitment to nature and sustainable development," stated Patel.
Addressing the prospects in Madhya Pradesh, the Governor pointed out the immense opportunities for sustainable and long-term partnerships in various sectors including trade, investment, tourism, education, skill enhancement, healthcare, energy security, and sustainable practices.
"The ongoing growth in trade, investment, technology, cultural, and humanitarian relations with Madhya Pradesh will fortify mutual ties and unveil new prospects. This collaboration will herald a new, advanced era," Patel conveyed in his remarks.
Dato’ Mujfar Shah Mustafa, Chairman of the ASEAN New Delhi Committee and Malaysian High Commissioner to India, expressed appreciation for the warm reception provided to the ASEAN delegation in Madhya Pradesh.
He mentioned that all ASEAN member countries are dedicated to fostering peace and prosperity built on friendship.
Importantly, the ASEAN delegation is undertaking a three-day visit (Nov 18-20) to Madhya Pradesh aimed at enhancing economic, industrial, investment, and cultural ties between the state and the ASEAN bloc.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav welcomed the delegation at his residence and discussed the rapid industrial growth of Madhya Pradesh, emphasizing investment opportunities in IT, manufacturing, agro-processing, tourism, and renewable energy.
The delegation also toured the UNESCO World Heritage Sites at Sanchi and Bhimbetka on Wednesday, and they are set to visit the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya and the Tribal Museum in Bhopal on Thursday.
ASEAN, or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, is a regional alliance that seeks to enhance cooperation in trade, economic progress, security, and cultural matters among its ten member countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Brunei.
