The 23-year-old accused, Salman, appeared before a judicial magistrate in the high-security ward of Hamidia Hospital, Bhopal, on Friday.
Due to a gunshot wound in his right leg, he could not be transported to a standard courtroom. Consequently, the magistrate conducted the remand proceedings at his bedside.
Extensive police presence has been established both inside and outside the hospital to avert any incidents. Salman was apprehended a dramatic 144 hours after the alleged crime.
Following precise intelligence reports, a special team from Raisen police captured him in the Gandhinagar area of Bhopal late Thursday night.
While being transferred from Bhopal to Gauharganj police station, the accused unexpectedly seized the service weapon of a sub-inspector in the same vehicle and fired at the police.
To protect themselves, the police team fired a single shot, striking Salman in the leg and neutralizing the immediate threat.
Raisen SDOP Sheela Surana informed reporters, "The accused is receiving treatment at Hamidia Hospital and is in no danger. Once the doctors declare him fit, he will be taken to Raisen district jail."
This incident has caused an uproar in Madhya Pradesh, prompting citizens, women's organizations, and child rights activists to stage protests in Bhopal, Raisen, and other cities, demanding capital punishment for the accused.
Political figures from various parties have condemned the act and pledged to ensure swift justice.
The minor victim, who suffered severe assault on November 22, is currently in recovery at a private hospital in Bhopal. Doctors describe her condition as stable yet critical, and she is receiving intensive medical attention along with psychological support.
Police sources confirmed that a potency test on the accused has been completed, with all forensic samples, including DNA, collected, and the investigation nearing completion.
