Chandigarh, May 26 (NationPress) In a significant achievement, the Punjab Police announced on Monday the dismantling of an organised crime syndicate linked to the foreign-affiliated Kishan gang regarding the assassination of Shiromani Akali Dal councillor Harjinder Singh in Amritsar.
Within a mere eight hours, law enforcement apprehended four gang members, leading to the rapid resolution of Harjinder Singh's murder case, as noted by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on X.
According to the DGP, during a pursuit near Fatahpur, the suspect Gurpreet Singh Gopi fired at the police. In response, the Station House Officer of Chheharta defended himself, injuring Gopi in the right leg with his service weapon.
The suspect was promptly transported to the Civil Hospital of Amritsar for medical assistance and is currently receiving treatment. Authorities recovered a Glock 9mm pistol from the scene.
