New Delhi, July 6 (NationPress) The National Commission for Women (NCW) conducted an AI training initiative in Jodhpur, attracting hundreds of women participants, as reported by an official on Sunday.
"The aim of Yashoda AI is to empower women digitally," stated an NCW official in a post on the social media platform X.
Yashoda AI, also referred to as "Your AI SAKHI for Shaping Horizons with Digital Awareness," is a nationwide effort by the NCW designed to equip women, especially those in rural and semi-urban locales, with skills in digital literacy, AI, cybersecurity, and online safety.
The NCW emphasized that the training is delivered in local languages to enhance accessibility and encourage women's involvement in a technology-centric future.
On Saturday, NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar convened a meeting with administrative and police representatives from eight districts of the Jodhpur division, along with officials from various departments, to assess the progress of women and child rights, laws, and initiatives.
In her post on X, she noted that several crucial topics were addressed during the meeting, including a review of over 10 schemes aimed at benefiting women.
She pointed out that discussions focused on enhancing the effectiveness of schemes such as 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana', 'Standup India', Lakhpati Didi, Maternal Health Scheme, tackling female dropouts in education, skill development, self-help groups, women entrepreneurship, digital education, and services.
The NCW chairperson underscored the delays in police reports, which hinder grievance resolution.
She also highlighted the necessity for an updated database of police officers and helpline officials to ensure effective communication and coordination.
There was a strong emphasis on awareness programs regarding various issues, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), which aims to safeguard children from sexual abuse, harassment, and pornography.
The effective implementation of the 'One Stop Centre'—designed to assist women affected by violence—and the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana were also part of the discussions, according to Rahatkar.
She stated that officials were encouraged to ensure that the benefits of the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana reach the most disadvantaged with the cooperation of public representatives.
She added that protection officers and local committees should collaborate effectively with police administration.
Moreover, the officials were urged to initiate Pre-Marital Communication Centres, review cases involving serious crimes against women like dowry, rape, and cybercrime, and fortify women's police stations.
The importance of appointing trained counselors and providing adequate infrastructure was also emphasized, she concluded.
