Guwahati, Jan 19 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Monday, honored the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) during its Raising Day, commending the organization for its bravery, professionalism, and steadfast dedication in serving the nation during critical situations.

Sharing his thoughts on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister emphasized that the NDRF is always prepared to tackle disasters and emergencies, noting that its prompt and altruistic actions have preserved innumerable lives throughout the country.

"On NDRF Raising Day, we pay tribute to the courage, professionalism, and dedication of the National Disaster Response Force. Always ready in crises, NDRF's rapid response and selfless service have safeguarded countless lives nationwide," wrote CM Sarma.

Annually celebrated, NDRF Raising Day commemorates the formation of the force, established under the Disaster Management Act of 2005, as a specialized unit to confront both natural and man-made disasters. Since its inception, the NDRF has become the leading disaster response agency in the country, receiving both national and international accolades for its effectiveness and compassionate approach.

With a team of highly trained personnel primarily sourced from the Central Armed Police Forces, the NDRF excels at managing a variety of emergencies, including floods, cyclones, earthquakes, landslides, industrial accidents, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) disasters.

Throughout the years, the force has been instrumental in significant rescue and relief operations across India, often operating in extremely challenging environments. Beyond disaster response, the NDRF is dedicated to capacity building, community awareness, and disaster preparedness, conducting mock drills and training programs to enhance local response capabilities.

The teams have also been deployed internationally, contributing to global humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts.

Political leaders and senior officials from various parties have extended their best wishes to NDRF personnel on this important occasion, recognizing their discipline, valor, and commitment to public service.
