Chandigarh, March 23 (NationPress) A charge sheet has been submitted in a Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court against four operatives of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist group in connection with the 2024 Chandigarh grenade attack, as confirmed by an official on Sunday.
Among the four individuals charged are Pakistan-based Designated Individual Terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, and US-based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia. They have been implicated in supplying logistical support, terror finances, weapons, and ammunition to the attackers.
All four suspects face charges under several sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, and other relevant laws, due to their involvement in planning and facilitating the attack.
The charge sheet indicates that Rinda and Passia acted as the main orchestrators and conspirators of the assault.
The attack, which occurred in September 2024, was aimed at a retired Punjab Police officer, whom the attackers mistakenly believed to be residing at the targeted location.
Investigations have uncovered that Rinda and Happy Passia masterminded the plot to instill fear among law enforcement and the public through this grenade attack, as part of their broader strategy to advance BKI’s terrorist objectives.
They enlisted local operatives, namely Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, who were given direct orders to execute the attack.
The duo directed Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih to conduct reconnaissance on the intended target twice prior to executing the grenade assault, as per the investigation.
The NIA has stated that inquiries are ongoing, with efforts focused on identifying additional members of the BKI terror network and dismantling its operations within India.
Earlier on March 11, the NIA Special Court in Mohali (Punjab) sentenced nine individuals to prison in a case involving the drone delivery of explosives and arms associated with designated terrorists Gurmeet Singh @Bagga and Ranjeet Singh @Neeta.
The court found the accused guilty of multiple charges under the IPC, UAPA, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act in relation to the terrorist organization Khalistan Zindabad Force.
