New Delhi, Sep 4 (NationPress) The Union Education Ministry unveiled the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 on Thursday. As seen in prior years, IIT Madras has once again claimed the top spot, excelling in both the overall and engineering categories.

IIM Ahmedabad maintained its leadership in management, while Hindu College of Delhi University emerged victorious among colleges.

AIIMS New Delhi upheld its stronghold in the medical category, and IISc Bangalore secured the premier position among universities.

This year signals the 10th consecutive year of IIT Madras leading in engineering, and the 7th year it has topped the overall rankings.

The institute also achieved the top rank in the Innovation and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) categories, with the SDG rankings being introduced for the first time.

The top 10 in the overall category include: IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, NIT Tiruchirappalli, and IIT (BHU) Varanasi.

Expressing their joy, IIT Madras stated that this recognition exemplifies its leadership in education, research, innovation, and sustainability.

Director Prof V. Kamakoti credited this achievement to a "collective and focused team effort" and assured that the institute will persist in its contributions toward the vision of Developed India 2047.

In university rankings, IISc Bangalore stands first, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) at number three, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) at four, University of Delhi (DU) at five, and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at six.

Faculty members of IIT Madras expressed that the institute’s consistent performance is not only a source of pride for the campus but also for the nation, as it equips India’s next generation to be globally competitive through excellence in research, innovation, and quality education.
