Patna, May 17 (NationPress) In a significant leap towards enhancing urban mobility, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar introduced the state’s first advanced subway and multi-modal transport hub adjacent to Patna Junction this Saturday.

This visionary project aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the busy area between GPO Golambar and Patna Junction Golambar, especially during rush hours.

The new facility promises to provide organized parking and efficient public transport options, featuring designated areas for buses, autos, e-rickshaws, and taxis.

"It brings immense joy to witness the completion of this project. We've closely monitored its development, and seeing it finalized today is truly gratifying," said CM Nitish during the opening ceremony.

He also instructed the District Magistrate of Patna to arrange a thorough tour of the facility for media representatives. While the inauguration occurred today, the hub will welcome the public starting May 18.

The previous absence of a structured transit area near Patna Junction led to considerable challenges for travelers and daily commuters, primarily due to the lack of formal parking spaces and chaotic public transport stops.

This new hub tackles these challenges by incorporating smart subway access, dedicated parking bays for buses and e-rickshaws, as well as management zones for autos, e-rickshaws, and taxis, alongside integration with Buddha Smriti Parking and Tata Parking.

According to Traffic SP Aparajit Lohan, a new traffic plan has been implemented for the hub. This includes stringent traffic regulations and clearly outlined vehicle pathways to prevent congestion and maintain smooth traffic flow in the vicinity of the junction.

The multi-modal parking facility near Patna Junction is designed to be energy-efficient, featuring a solar power system on the rooftop to cater to its electricity needs.

Situated 440 meters from Patna Junction, the parking area will consist of four travel lanes of varying lengths—18 meters, 30 meters, 45 meters, and 55 meters—to facilitate easy access for individuals moving between the parking area and key locations.

Additionally, the facility will offer two escalators and two underground lifts for enhanced convenience.
