Srinagar, May 15 (NationPress) The Indian Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, stated on Thursday that India adheres to the current ceasefire agreement only on the condition that no terrorist attacks occur within the nation. Additionally, he emphasized that it is crucial for a global regulatory body to oversee Pakistan's nuclear facility.
While addressing Indian Army personnel at the Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, the headquarters of the Army’s 15 Corps, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh remarked, “Our Operation Sindoor is, without a doubt, the largest anti-terror initiative ever carried out by India. We struck hard and left a significant mark after they attempted to target us.”
The Defence Minister commenced his speech by honoring the brave souls who sacrificed their lives during recent conflicts between India and Pakistan, including paying respect to the 26 lives lost due to terrorist actions in Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on April 22.
“Operation Sindoor is a vision shared by every Indian soldier determined to eradicate terrorism from across the border. They sought to shatter our social fabric by targeting innocent people based on religion. We responded by addressing their malicious intentions,” he stated.
He continued, “India will not yield to any nuclear extortion from Pakistan, as demonstrated by our targeted strikes against terrorism.”
“It is imperative that an international organization assumes control of Pakistan's nuclear facility to permanently expose their nuclear threats,” he asserted.
The Defence Minister referenced Swami Tulsi Das, quoting, “Whenever intentions are pure and just, peace and prosperity follow; however, evil and vengeful intentions lead to misery and violence.”
He also cited poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, stating, “No one desires to face illness, yet when afflicted, offering sweets will not heal; only rigorous remedies will suffice.”
“India has always championed peace, but when our sovereignty and integrity are at stake, tough decisions must be made,” he added.
Rajnath Singh highlighted that Pakistan had previously assured Atal Bihari Vajpayee that their territory would not be used for terrorism, a promise they failed to uphold.
“Let it be clear that our current understanding hinges on the guarantee that no terrorist activities will be executed from across the border. I recognize the immense anger felt across the nation, and I commend you for not allowing that anger to dictate your actions,” he expressed.
“You avenged the senseless killings of civilians by targeting the appropriate locations,” Rajnath Singh noted.
“Where is Pakistan today? It is said that the line of beggars starts where Pakistan stands. They plead for IMF loans, while India is among those nations contributing to the IMF to aid poorer countries.”
“Should any terror attack occur in our country, our response will be decisive. The Prime Minister has already redefined our approach to terrorism,” he asserted.
“A new standard has been established, and this will be our strategy in response to any terror attack in India,” emphasized the Defence Minister.
He conveyed that Prime Minister Modi has made it clear that discussions with Pakistan cannot occur alongside terrorism.
“The sole topic of conversation with Pakistan will be Pakistan-occupied Kashmir,” he reiterated.
Rajnath Singh expressed that it was a gratifying experience to be among the nation's courageous soldiers.
Present during the Defence Minister's address were Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, GoC-in-C Northern Command Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, GoC of 15 Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, and other senior Army officials.
