Bhubaneswar, Nov 12 (NationPress) Following the tragic explosion in Delhi that claimed the lives of over 8 individuals and injured many others, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday highlighted the critical importance of establishing robust security measures for the upcoming India-South Africa T-20 International match at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, scheduled for December 9.
During a high-level preparatory meeting convened at Lok Seva Bhawan, CM Majhi reviewed the necessary arrangements for the T-20 International match.
In light of the recent incident in Delhi, he underscored the necessity for impeccable security protocols and instructed the police force to remain vigilant to ensure public safety at all times.
The Chief Minister also urged senior officials from the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) and state administration to guarantee the seamless execution of all plans, ensuring the event is held with precision and dignity.
“Cricket is among the most cherished sports in our nation, and this match will attract both national and international attention. Thus, it must be executed flawlessly, showcasing Odisha’s competence and pride,” emphasized the Chief Minister.
Majhi also directed the establishment of a well-coordinated green corridor to facilitate the swift transport of individuals requiring urgent medical assistance.
He advised officials to ensure that there are adequate arrangements for the effective management of crowds, ticket sales, and emergency health services.
The secretary, Sanjay Behera, provided a comprehensive update on preparations, addressing ticket sales, crowd control, uninterrupted lighting, stadium infrastructure, fire safety, parking, and traffic management.
Notably, the state faced embarrassment earlier this year when a floodlight malfunction at Barabati Stadium led to a 35-minute interruption during the second ODI between India and England in February.
The Odisha government subsequently sought accountability from the OCA regarding this lighting issue.
