Srinagar, May 9 (NationPress) - The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, departed from Srinagar to Jammu on Friday morning to assess the situation following a thwarted drone attack from Pakistan.
In a post on his X account, he stated, “I am currently heading to Jammu to evaluate the circumstances after last night’s unsuccessful drone attack targeting Jammu city and other areas in the division.”
The vigilant forces successfully neutralized the Pakistani drones and low-range missiles in Jammu, Samba, R.S. Pura, and surrounding regions. An infiltration attempt supported by Pakistani troops was also repelled in the Samba district along the international border.
A spokesperson from the BSF confirmed that a significant infiltration attempt was thwarted around 11 PM the previous night.
The intruding militants were compelled to retreat back into Pakistan, according to the spokesman.
In a separate incident, a woman lost her life and another was injured due to heavy mortar bombardment from Pakistan in civilian zones within the Uri sector of Baramulla.
