Kolkata, Oct 23 (NationPress) The police announced on Thursday that the desecration of a Kali idol in the Kakdwip region of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, was a localized and isolated incident with no political motivations involved. They confirmed that one individual has been apprehended in relation to the incident, which occurred at a temple situated in the Suryanagar gram panchayat of Kakdwip.
The arrested individual has been identified as Narayan Halder, who reportedly damaged the idol while under the influence of alcohol. Police reports indicate that he has confessed to the crime.
According to the West Bengal Police, "Based on intelligence inputs, we apprehended a person named Narayan Halder (28), son of Bhupati Halder. During our questioning, he admitted his involvement and showed remorse. It was established that he was intoxicated when he desecrated the idol."
