Established on October 8, 1932, as a part of British India, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has developed into one of the most advanced and powerful air forces globally, tasked with the primary objective of safeguarding Indian airspace and executing aerial combat during wartime.
The 93rd Indian Air Force Day was commemorated at the Hindon Air Force Station, where the valor and commitment of the personnel were celebrated. This year’s event paid special homage to Operation Sindoor, marking a critical milestone in the IAF’s proud history.
While addressing the air warriors and their families, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh remarked, "It is a privilege for me to serve as the Chief of Air Staff on the 93rd anniversary of the Air Force. This role humbles me yet fills me with pride as I reflect on our journey, which started with the humble Wapiti aircraft and has reached the roaring heights of our modern Air Force, becoming the fourth-largest globally."
Expressing his pride in the IAF's international stature, he stated, "I am proud to belong to an Air Force recognized among the best in the world for its technology and capabilities. This is a force committed to defending our nation, where every air warrior stands ready to sacrifice their life for the country."
Reflecting on the IAF's remarkable history, Air Chief Marshal Singh noted, "In 1947, we protected Kashmir. In 1965, we engaged the enemy from the skies. In 1971, we played a vital role in the formation of a new nation. In 1999, we showed bravery in Kargil. In 2019, we struck terrorists in Balakot. This year, we achieved victory over our adversaries in Operation Sindoor within just four days. The IAF has consistently showcased its skill and bravery, upholding the nation’s honor."
Referring to the performance during Operation Sindoor as a source of "professional pride," he stated, "We demonstrated to the world the effective use of air power to influence military results in a matter of days. India’s decisive and precise strikes have reaffirmed the significance of offensive air action in our national psyche."
The Air Chief Marshal commended India's homegrown defense systems and integrated weaponry, which were pivotal in the success of Operation Sindoor.
"Operation Sindoor is a brilliant illustration of what can be accomplished through thorough planning, disciplined training, and resolute execution," he added.
He also praised the Indian Air Force’s efforts in humanitarian missions and disaster relief, both domestically and globally.
During ‘Operation Sindhu,’ he shared, "The IAF promptly evacuated Indian nationals from conflict zones. The force has also responded to international emergencies by transporting aid and personnel to countries such as Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, and Kenya. The compassion and speed with which the IAF provided assistance, even under perilous conditions, embodies the highest ideals of service before self."
Emphasizing the significance of unity within the force, Air Chief Marshal Singh encouraged, "Every air warrior must ensure they are not the weak link in the chain. Our Air Force operates as a unified team that transcends branches, trades, and units. No challenge is insurmountable when we work together. This year’s theme, ‘Bharatiya Vayu Sena -- Achook, Abhedya, aur Sateek’, reflects our commitment to unwavering service to the nation, protecting our skies, and maintaining precision in every mission."
He asserted that Operation Sindoor embodied this year’s theme, reinforcing that victory is attained through teamwork, synergy, and collaboration among the armed forces.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the IAF must remain vigilant and ready for future challenges, ensuring to be "honest, rigorous, and relevant to the changing global landscape."
The Air Force Chief expressed gratitude to veterans and honored the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for duty.
