Patna, July 21 (NationPress) As the Monsoon session of the Bihar Assembly kicks off on Monday, opposition factions organized a protest outside the legislative building, voicing concerns over law and order, unemployment, and the ongoing revision of the voter list in the state.
State Congress President Rajesh Ram, along with the Leader of the Congress Legislative Party Shakeel Ahmed Khan and other MLAs, demonstrated outside the Assembly, brandishing banners and posters while shouting slogans against the NDA administration in Bihar.
The Congress leaders demanded accountability from the government led by Nitish Kumar regarding the alarming rise in crime in Bihar.
Shakeel Ahmed Khan stated, "The youth of Bihar are distressed by unemployment and forced migration. In such circumstances, does the Assembly need to operate without addressing these pressing issues? The government is not interested in responding to the Opposition's inquiries; it merely seeks to pass Bills."
He further claimed that neither the Bihar government nor the Central government is inclined to heed the Opposition's concerns.
"We will endeavor to hold the state government accountable both inside and outside the House regarding the people's questions. The law-and-order scenario has worsened, and 'goonda raj' has taken root in Bihar," he asserted.
Additionally, MLAs from Left parties conducted a separate protest outside the Assembly prior to the commencement of the Monsoon session, donning black attire and carrying posters to object to the ongoing revision of the voter list ahead of the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
They called for an immediate halt to the special voter revision process.
Chanting slogans and displaying posters with messages like "Election thief, leave the throne," Left leaders alleged that the voter list revision was a scheme to eliminate the names of the underprivileged and minorities from the electoral rolls in collusion with the Election Commission and the Central government.
The opposition parties in Bihar have consistently opposed the voter list revision since its initiation.
This Monsoon session is anticipated to witness fierce clashes between the ruling NDA and the Grand Alliance in Bihar.
While the Bihar government aims to introduce and pass around 12 Bills during this session, the Opposition is poised to challenge the government on law and order, voter list revision, and unemployment.
