Lucknow, Oct 31 (NationPress) In the kharif marketing year 2025-26, paddy procurement in eastern Uttar Pradesh is set to commence on November 1 and will run until February 28, 2026.
Procurement activities will also extend to the districts of Unnao, Raebareli, and Lucknow.
Meanwhile, in western Uttar Pradesh, procurement has been active since October 1, including areas like Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Sitapur in the Lucknow Division.
The double-engine government has raised the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy this year. The MSP for Common paddy is now set at Rs 2,369 per quintal, while Grade A paddy is priced at Rs 2,389 per quintal. Over 2.17 lakh farmers have registered to sell their produce within a span of two months.
The eastern regions of Uttar Pradesh where procurement will kick off on November 1 include Chitrakoot, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Devipatan, Basti, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Mirzapur, and Prayagraj. Furthermore, procurement activities will also start in Lucknow, Raebareli, and Unnao on November 1 and continue until February 28, 2026.
As of October 31, a total of 2,17,625 farmers have registered. In western Uttar Pradesh, more than 17,000 farmers have successfully sold over 1.06 lakh metric tonnes of paddy within just a month.
