Hyderabad, Aug 15 (NationPress) The 79th Independence Day celebrations across Telangana were infused with a spirit of patriotism on Friday. The day was marked by the hoisting of the national flag at various government and private establishments, spectacular parades by police officers, vibrant cultural performances by students, and the resonating sounds of patriotic songs throughout the festivities.
The primary official event took place at the historic Golconda Fort, where Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy raised the national flag.
Before heading to Golconda Fort for the main celebration, he honored martyrs at the Army War Memorial located at Parade Ground in Secunderabad.
The Chief Minister received a guard of honour from police contingents at Rani Mahal lawns prior to hoisting the national flag.
The ancient fort was adorned for the occasion, showcasing the rich culture of Telangana, with drummers and other performers adding vibrancy to the celebrations.
Top officials including Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Director General of Police Jitender, and several civil, police, and military leaders attended the ceremony.
The Chief Minister also recognized the contributions of policemen and government employees with awards.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister hoisted the national flag at his official residence in Jubilee Hills.
Meanwhile, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma performed the flag hoisting at Raj Bhavan.
After the flag hoisting, Governor Varma received a guard of honour, shared greetings with Raj Bhavan officers, staff, police, and security personnel, and personally distributed sweets to the staff.

In his address, Governor Varma conveyed warm wishes to the people of Telangana and all Indians, emphasizing that Independence Day is “not just a date on the calendar, but a solemn occasion to celebrate the hard-won freedom of our nation.”
He paid homage to the freedom fighters whose sacrifices paved the way for independent India and recalled the enduring principles of Ahimsa and Satyagraha promoted by Mahatma Gandhi—principles that “shook an empire and inspired generations.”
He praised Telangana’s advancements in irrigation, technology, artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology, commending the valor of the armed forces, citing the recent “Operation Sindoor” as a testament to the nation’s determination and ability.
Ministers, government advisors, and corporate chairpersons led the Independence Day celebrations at headquarters across 32 districts.
Celebrations also took place at the State Assembly, State Secretariat, Hyderabad High Court, and the offices of various political parties.
