Bengaluru, Nov 12 (NationPress) Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed skepticism regarding the exit polls forecasting an NDA win in the Bihar Assembly elections during a press interaction on Wednesday. "I do not believe in exit polls. Even in Karnataka, I had my doubts. There are numerous aspects to consider, and we are hopeful that the Mahagathbandhan will emerge victorious," Shivakumar stated while engaging with reporters.

"The populace desires change, and I am confident that they have rallied behind the INDIA alliance. My skepticism towards exit polls is not new — they have frequently proven inaccurate," he added.

"As a practical politician, I firmly believe that the Mahagathbandhan will return to power. I have faith in the people of Bihar," he emphasized.

Shivakumar acknowledged that while he has not visited Bihar, his friends have conveyed to him that "there is significant enthusiasm there."

"Let's wait for the actual results. I have never placed my trust in exit polls, even when they appeared favorable to us. The real outcomes will reveal the truth," he stated.

He also mentioned that the media had not forecasted Congress's success in Karnataka through exit polls. "The media never indicated that Congress would gain power in Karnataka. I was confident in our seat count and victory. Even in bypolls, forecasts suggested Congress would not win. Let those conducting exit polls say what they will — it's inconsequential," he remarked.

"The voters will either support us or turn away — that is the essence of democracy. Everyone experiences defeat at some stage," he noted.

When questioned about the potential impact of Bihar's election results on Karnataka's politics, Shivakumar, who also heads the Congress in the state, remarked: "There is no necessity to discuss that. Bihar's results will not influence Karnataka politics. Our state leads in development and social transformation, and our government is dedicated to uplifting the economy of our people through discipline and commitment."

In response to Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan's comment suggesting Shivakumar would become Chief Minister in 2028 without any leadership changes during the current term, he said: "That's positive. What is wrong with his statement? The Chief Minister is still in place — let him continue. We are content with this arrangement and are working cohesively."

"We are united, and we will maintain our unity," he affirmed.

Regarding his recent trip to Delhi, Shivakumar clarified, "I did not meet any Union Ministers."

On the topic of the Red Fort blast, he stated: "This is a serious matter, and we must all remain vigilant. The Government of India needs to guarantee the safety of our nation. Ultimately, we expect results — they must deliver. Numerous failures have occurred, resulting in loss of lives, and we must exercise utmost caution."

When asked about Congress leaders calling for the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Shivakumar replied: "Let us all unite in this demand."

Point of View

It's crucial to recognize the dynamic interplay between regional sentiments and national politics. Shivakumar's comments on Bihar's electorate highlight a broader narrative of change that resonates across the country. The skepticism surrounding exit polls reflects a growing awareness among politicians of the unpredictable nature of voter behavior. Ultimately, the upcoming results will reveal the true mood of the electorate.
