New Delhi, Oct 23 (NationPress) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with Katherina Reiche, the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, in Berlin on Thursday. Their discussions centered around Germany's commitment to completing the India-EU free trade agreement (FTA).
Goyal is currently in Germany to connect with CEOs and industry leaders to enhance bilateral trade and investment.
“I was pleased to meet Katherina Reiche, the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, in Berlin. We focused our discussions on strengthening Indo-German relations in trade and investment, as well as exploring joint ventures in green energy, new technologies, and defense. Our talks reaffirmed Germany's commitment to finalizing the India-EU FTA,” Goyal stated in a post on X.
“I emphasized that India's vast talent pool, coupled with our initiatives aimed at enhancing the Ease of Doing Business, presents compelling opportunities for German companies to diversify their investments and bolster supply chain resilience,” he added.
Additionally, Goyal participated in a roundtable discussion with CEOs from German Mittelstand (SME) companies and Indian enterprises.
“I highlighted the significant opportunities available in India regarding innovation and sustainable manufacturing, discussing collaborative avenues for Indian and German firms to enhance trade and investment ties, fostering strong industrial partnerships for mutual growth,” the minister noted.
This visit to Berlin represents a pivotal moment for enhancing India’s engagement with Germany, especially as 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership, showcasing the deep-rooted, resilient, and enduring nature of bilateral relations.
