New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) A significant incident transpired in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, during the Jain community's 'Laddu Mahotsav' at the Adinath Temple. The calamity occurred at the Manastambh complex, where a wooden platform, part of the event's setup, collapsed, leading to a stampede.

Over 50 devotees found themselves trapped beneath the platform's wreckage, with numerous individuals sustaining severe injuries. Many were observed bleeding profusely, resulting in a scene of chaos.

Due to a shortage of ambulances, the injured were transported to the hospital using e-rickshaws. Local law enforcement, led by the Inspector of Baraut Police Station, responded promptly to manage the situation and assist.

The accident unfolded on Gandhi Road in Baraut, which is situated in the Baghpat district.

As the count of the injured continued to increase, reports indicated that six to seven police officers also sustained injuries during the rescue operations.

District Magistrate Asmita Lal and Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya are presently visiting hospitals to monitor the situation and provide updates.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reacted swiftly to the incident, instructing officials to accelerate relief efforts. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the injured receive appropriate medical care and extended his hopes for their swift recovery.

The office of Yogi Adityanath shared on the social media platform X, "UPCM @myogiadityanath has acknowledged the accident in Bagpat district and has ordered the swift implementation of relief measures. The Chief Minister has ensured that the injured are sent to hospitals and has instructed district administration officials to guarantee they receive adequate treatment. He also conveyed wishes for the rapid recovery of the injured."

SP Arpit Vijayvargiya detailed the incident's context: "A religious program was being held. The Jain community was conducting a ceremony to offer laddus at the temple. Some individuals were on a wooden platform, which became unstable and collapsed, causing numerous people to fall. Approximately 25 individuals were injured, with some suffering serious injuries. Treatment for the wounded is currently in progress."

As the investigation unfolds, the community and authorities are collaborating to address the aftermath of this tragic event.
