New Delhi, July 27 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his warmest wishes to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as it commemorates its 87th Raising Day on Sunday, commending the force for its essential contributions to the nation's security.

Recognizing the CRPF's unwavering dedication to protecting the country, PM Modi shared on X, "Warm wishes to all CRPF personnel on this Raising Day. This force has been instrumental in our security framework, particularly in challenging scenarios related to internal security."

The Prime Minister further praised the courage and dedication of the force, stating, "CRPF members have distinguished themselves through their duty, bravery, and steadfast commitment in the most difficult circumstances. Their efforts in addressing humanitarian challenges are equally praiseworthy."

The CRPF, which commenced operations on July 27, 1939, as the Crown Representative Police, officially became the Central Reserve Police Force on December 28, 1949, after the enactment of the Central Reserve Police Force Act.

This change marked the beginning of its new identity and established it as a central armed force under the authority of the Government of India.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his congratulations to CRPF personnel on this occasion.

He remarked on X, "Heartfelt greetings to all CRPF personnel on their Raising Day. Your selfless dedication has been the backbone of our nation's security, and your relentless bravery in combating Naxalism is truly commendable."

"Time and again, you have faced challenges head-on, standing tall against every adversity with unwavering resolve. A proud salute to the martyrs of CRPF; your legacy of bravery continues to inspire the nation," HM Shah added.

The CRPF, in its own message, honored its personnel and their families.

"On July 27, we mark 86 glorious years of remarkable bravery, supreme sacrifice, and unwavering commitment — deeply engraved in the legacy of the nation's security and service," the force stated in a post on X.

The formation of the CRPF was significantly influenced by the Madras resolution passed by the All India Congress Committee in 1936, which underscored the need for a strong internal security framework.

This vision was realized when Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the then Home Minister, highlighted the necessity of a robust and adaptable force to address the evolving security demands of an independent India.

Importantly, the CRPF is the only paramilitary force in India to have six women's battalions. The first of these, the 88 (M) Battalion, was formed in 1986 and is based in Delhi. These battalions reflect the force's commitment to inclusivity and the changing role of women in India's security apparatus.

Point of View

The CRPF's role in maintaining internal security is indispensable. Their dedication and sacrifices are crucial for the safety and stability of the nation. As we celebrate their Raising Day, it is essential to acknowledge both their challenges and their profound contributions to Indian society.
