New Delhi, Nov 23 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially wrapped up his engagements at the G20 Summit and concluded discussions with global leaders before departing from Johannesburg, South Africa.
"After successfully wrapping up his commitments at the G20 Summit and dialogues with world leaders, PM Modi has left Johannesburg, South Africa," stated the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on their platform X.
The Prime Minister initiated his official visit on Friday, participating in pivotal discussions with various world leaders throughout the summit.
Among the notable figures PM Modi met were French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed Ali, IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, and others.
During the third session on Sunday, PM Modi stressed the importance of a future that is equitable and technology-driven, advocating for a human-centered, global, and open-source approach, instead of one that is solely focused on finance.
He underscored India’s inclusive stance on technology, referencing extensive participation in digital payments, space technology, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Furthermore, he expressed eagerness for India to host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026.
“Our theme is Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya, which translates to welfare for all and happiness for everyone,” the Prime Minister remarked.
In this age of AI, PM Modi emphasized the need to transition from focusing on ‘jobs for today’ to developing ‘capabilities for tomorrow’.
“In the coming years, we anticipate that the G20 will establish a global framework for talent mobility, which will enhance innovation and benefit the youth across the globe,” he stated.
Importantly, global leaders at the G20 Summit reached a significant consensus on issues like disaster resilience, debt sustainability, just energy transitions, and critical minerals, culminating in the adoption of the G20 South Africa Summit's Leaders' Declaration on Saturday.
This declaration was announced at the beginning of the summit, marking the first G20 meeting ever held in Africa. The two-day event took place in Johannesburg under the theme of “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability”.
