Singh urged the central government to promptly release the outstanding Rs 60,000 crore owed to Punjab under RDF, GST, and other categories, an appeal previously made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader pointed out that Punjab has been grappling with flooding for nearly a month, yet the Centre has chosen to await reports instead of delivering immediate assistance.
He reminded everyone that despite the visit of the Union Agriculture Minister to Punjab, no relief has been provided to date.
Singh, alongside state Panchayat Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, toured the flood-hit villages and distributed relief supplies.
Sond mentioned that relief operations in the district are proceeding at full pace.
On Sunday, to celebrate his birthday, he personally delivered relief bags to the residents of Gulaba Bhaini village, as stated by a government release. He has been actively involved in relief efforts in the Fazilka district for the past three days.
Sond stated that as water levels recede, the administration is preparing for upcoming challenges, including the threat of waterborne diseases and damage assessments.
He stressed that medical teams, veterinary units, and district administration officials are diligently working in affected villages to ensure that every individual in need receives relief supplies.
Meanwhile, the National Awardee Teachers' Association (NATA) Punjab has stepped up to back the state government's flood relief initiatives, donating a cheque for Rs 1.25 lakh to Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.
A delegation of National Awardee Teachers, led by its president Balram Sharma, met with Bains to contribute to the Punjab Chief Minister Flood Relief Fund in observance of Teachers’ Day, pledging their full support to the government during this crisis.
