J&K Police Seizes Residential Property Linked to Drug Trade in Shopian

Srinagar, March 9 (NationPress) In a significant move, the Police in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir announced on Monday the attachment of a residential property following court orders, as it was established that the property was acquired through the illicit proceeds of the drug trade.
A police statement elaborated: “In line with our relentless campaign against narcotics-related crimes, the Shopian Police have seized a two-storey residential house worth Rs 55,21,189 under Khasra No. 243, owned by Ghulam Mohammad Khanday, a resident of Zrakan Keller. This property was identified as having been funded by the unlawful sale of drugs and narcotics.
“Consequently, the property was seized in connection with case FIR No. 49/2025 at Police Station Keller. The attachment was executed in the presence of a duly constituted police team, along with the Executive Magistrate, Lambardar, and Chowkidar, ensuring strict adherence to all legal protocols and procedures.”
“The police reiterates its unwavering commitment to tackling narcotics-related offenses and encourages the public to report any information regarding drug trafficking or related activities,” the statement further emphasized.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have been actively conducting operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers by seizing assets owned by them, as well as those of terror handlers operating from neighboring Pakistan.
Drug traffickers, peddlers, and individuals involved in hawala money laundering schemes are also under the police's scrutiny, as it is believed that the funds generated from these illegal activities contribute to the sustenance of terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
In collaboration with the Army and the Border Security Force (BSF), which are stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB), they work diligently to prevent infiltration, exfiltration, drug trafficking, and drone-related activities.
