Srinagar, Nov 10 (NationPress) The J&K Police have dismantled a transnational terror module operating across state lines, linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind groups. In a significant operation in the Faridabad region of Haryana, near New Delhi, authorities recovered 2,900 kg of explosives, along with two assault rifles, pistols, timers, and various other materials. So far, seven individuals have been apprehended.
The operation was initiated following the appearance of Jaish-e-Mohammad posters across multiple locations in Bunpora Nowgam, Srinagar, on October 19, which contained threats directed at police and security forces.
“This operation resulted in the arrest of seven key figures and the recovery of a vast arsenal of arms and ammunition, as well as nearly three tonnes of improvised explosive device (IED) materials during synchronized searches across several states. The module was involved in identifying, radicalizing, and recruiting individuals into terrorist ranks, in addition to raising funds, coordinating logistics, and obtaining arms and explosives,” the police stated.
The detained suspects include Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid, Molvi Irfan Ahmad, Zameer Ahmad Ahanger alias Mutlasha, Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie alias Musaib, and Dr Adeel.
“Further individuals associated with the network have been identified, and efforts are ongoing to locate and detain them,” the police added.
Coordinated searches were executed by the J&K Police in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, and Shopian, in collaboration with the Haryana Police in Faridabad and the Uttar Pradesh Police in Saharanpur.
The operation yielded two pistols, two AK-series rifles, and an astonishing 2,900 kilograms of explosive and IED-making materials, including chemicals, reagents, flammable substances, electronic circuits, remote controls, batteries, wires, timers, and metal fragments.
Among the recovered weapons were a Chinese Star pistol, a Beretta pistol, an AK-56 rifle, and an AK Krinkov rifle, all accompanied by ammunition.
“The sheer volume of explosives indicates the potential for a large-scale attack, which has now been thwarted. A comprehensive financial investigation is underway to trace the funding sources and identify both local and cross-border connections,” the police noted.
All aspects of funding, coordination, and supply chain are being thoroughly investigated.
“This is among the most significant counter-terror operations of the year. The success of this operation highlights the relentless efforts and unwavering commitment of our forces in dismantling undercover terror networks. The Jammu and Kashmir Police remain resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism and maintain peace and security in the region,” officials stated.
