New Delhi, July 20 (NationPress) BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla has sharply criticized Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, labeling him the “biggest liability” for the INDIA alliance.

Poonawalla pointed to signs of growing discontent within the opposition coalition, stating to IANS, “After AAP and Uddhav Thackeray's lack of confidence in Rahul Gandhi, CPI has now added its voice to the dissent.”

His comments were triggered by CPI MP Sandosh Kumar's recent critique of Rahul Gandhi for drawing parallels between CPI(M) and the RSS during a speech in Kerala. Kumar remarked, “No reasonable person would compare the RSS with Left parties. Rahul Gandhi exhibits a consistent lack of maturity. Congress should guide him. How can someone like him lead the INDIA bloc?”

Continuing his critique, Poonawalla raised questions about the ideological inconsistencies within the alliance. “In Kerala, Congress battles the Left; in Bengal, they collaborate. This alliance lacks vision and is merely driven by a shared fixation on Modi, corruption, and commissions,” he stated.

Poonawalla also claimed that many members of the INDIA Bloc do not have faith in Congress’s leadership. “AAP’s Sanjay Singh recently declared they are not part of the alliance. Uddhav Thackeray criticized ego clashes and last-minute seat-sharing issues as factors for their defeat in Maharashtra. In Bihar and UP, even RJD and SP have indicated that Rahul should resign from his leadership position,” he asserted.

Addressing the controversy surrounding Bhupesh Baghel’s son, who was previously arrested by the ED, Poonawalla said, “A thief always questions the police. These leaders consistently play the victimhood card—whether it's Lalu Yadav or others. He’s been convicted five times, yet you won’t find anyone in RJD labeling him a 'Chara Chor.'”

Reflecting on the breakdown of the Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra, he referred to it as the “Maha Vibhajan Aghadi,” adding, “Nobody in the alliance is prepared to accept Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.”
