Ayodhya, March 4 (NationPress) Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday unveiled the lesser-known saga of Sikh warriors who bravely resisted Mughal invaders and their significant role in safeguarding the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram.
The Union Minister visited Gurudwara Sahib near the Saryu River in Ayodhyadham and was profoundly moved to witness the weapons and artifacts at the shrine, wielded by Nihang Sikhs during their battles against the invaders.
“When religion faced peril in Ayodhya, under the guidance of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Nihang army engaged the Mughals and triumphed to defend the birthplace of Shri Ram,” he posted on X, accompanied by images of weapons and sacred texts.
“The teachings and principles of Guru Ji concerning the defense of faith and humanity serve as a beacon of inspiration for us all. He must also take joy in witnessing the temple of Lord Shri Ram Lala Sarkar,” he added.
He emphasized that the artifacts displayed in the Gurudwara continue to narrate the bravery of the Nihang army.
During his time at Gurudwara Sahib in Ayodhya, the Union Minister was also blessed to see Brahm Kund Ghat, Shri Guru Nanak Koop, and more.
He expressed feeling divinely blessed and emotionally overwhelmed upon viewing the hand-written copy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and other revered scriptures.
“The Gurdwara Sahibs in the holy Ayodhyadham epitomize the intersection of faiths, showcasing the enduring bond between Sikhism and Hinduism that dates back to medieval times and how they have supported one another in the fight against invaders. In 1697, when the Mughal forces under Aurangazeb attacked the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji dispatched a battalion of 400 Nihang Sikhs to join forces with the Aghoris in a fierce confrontation,” he shared on social media.
Hardeep Singh Puri prayed at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple on Monday and shared a video documenting his sacred visit to the magnificent mandir.
He remarked that he felt incredibly privileged to pay his respects at the divine Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya Dham and sought blessings from Maryada Purushottam Lord Ram, who symbolizes brotherhood, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.
