Vijayawada, July 30 (NationPress) Kasireddy Rajashekhar Reddy, the principal suspect in the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam, has refuted claims that the Rs 11 crore cash confiscated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) from a farmhouse near Hyderabad is his.
Currently in judicial custody, Rajashekhar Reddy submitted an affidavit to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court on Wednesday, disavowing any association with the funds taken by the SIT.
Reddy, who previously served as the IT Adviser to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, stated he learned on Wednesday morning about the SIT's seizure of Rs 11 crore from a farmhouse owned by Sulochana Farms, which is linked to Theegala Bali Reddy in Kacharam village of Shamshabad mandal in Rangareddy district.
He asserted that the prosecution's insinuation that the seized funds are his is an utter falsehood.
Reddy pointed out that Theegala Vijayender Reddy, son of Theegala Bali Reddy, runs multiple businesses, including Vardhaman Engineering College, diagnostic centers, and hospitals, which could generate significant revenue.
"My only connection to him is that my wife holds a minor stake in their hospital named ARET, aside from that, I have no ties to that business entity," the affidavit noted.
The SIT discovered the cash concealed within 12 cardboard boxes.
SIT officials stated that the funds were hidden under Rajashekhar Reddy's direction.
The search of the guest house was conducted based on information from Varun Purshottam, who is accused number 40 in the case.
This alleged liquor scam transpired during the YSRCP administration from 2019 to 2024.
In a related note, YSRCP has accused the SIT of fabricating narratives without evidence and claimed that the propaganda machine of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has been exaggerating the issue to distract the public.
YSRCP leader and former Minister Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) remarked that "media aligned with CM Chandrababu Naidu" has been disseminating rumors against YSRCP leadership due to their vindictiveness, aiming to falsely implicate them regarding the Rs 11 crore seized in Hyderabad.
