These appointments will be effective for a duration of one and a half years.
Chaturvedi, a prominent BJP figure with a wealth of administrative and political experience, is anticipated to prioritize the financial empowerment of local governing bodies.
Upon his appointment, Chaturvedi remarked that the government, in collaboration with the party organization, is making progress with political appointments, and more announcements will follow.
He stated that his primary focus as chairman will be to fortify the institutional framework of the Finance Commission and improve the revenue generation capabilities of municipal bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions to support their advancement.
Rajasthan's CM Bhajan Lal Sharma extended his congratulations on this appointment. He expressed, “Hearty congratulations to former state president of BJP, Rajasthan, Dr. Arun Chaturvedi ji on being appointed as the chairman of the State Finance Commission. I pray for your successful tenure.”
On the same day, CM Sharma instructed officials to act swiftly to enhance traffic management in Jaipur and create a long-term plan to meet the increasing transportation demands.
During a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister's residence, he stressed that the Home and Transport Department, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), Urban Development and Housing Department, and Autonomous Governance Department should collaborate with shared responsibility.
CM Sharma highlighted the importance of raising public awareness regarding traffic regulations and fostering a culture of disciplined driving.
He urged officials to promote “traffic sense” among citizens and ensure stringent enforcement of traffic laws.
To enhance monitoring capabilities, he mandated the installation of modern surveillance cameras in Jaipur using funds from the Rajasthan Transport Infrastructure Development (RTID) Fund. A centralized control room will also be established to oversee traffic rule violations.
Addressing the urgent need to alleviate congestion, the Chief Minister directed the creation of a one-way traffic system on major roads, incorporating feedback from local businesses and residents.
He also ordered the prompt relocation of identified auto and bus stands, insisting that bus services should commence from the Hirapura Bus Terminal after the monsoon.
Moreover, Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) buses must be efficiently operated from the newly relocated bus terminals to assure seamless intra-city passenger movement.
Sharma further called for the establishment of multilevel parking facilities at pivotal locations in the city and directed the JDA to create yard spaces for confiscated e-rickshaws while enforcing regulations for zone-wise e-rickshaw operations.
