Rajasthan: Bhajan Lal Sharma Government Reverses 9 Districts, 3 Divisions Established by Gehlot Government

Jaipur, Dec 28 (NationPress) The Rajasthan government, under the leadership of Bhajan Lal Sharma, took a decisive step on Saturday by revoking the formation of nine districts and three divisions that were established during the tenure of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

This resolution was reached in a Cabinet meeting convened on Saturday, resulting in Rajasthan now having a total of 41 districts and 7 divisions.

The three divisions that were annulled are Pali, Sikar, and Banswara. Additionally, the decision affected nine out of the 17 new districts created during Gehlot's term, which include Dudu, Kekri, Shahpura, Neemkathana, Gangapur City, Jaipur Rural, Jodhpur Rural, Anupgarh, and Sanchore.

On the other hand, certain districts have been retained, including Balotra, Beawar, Deeg, Didwana-Kuchaman, Kotputli-Behror, Khairthal-Tijara, Phalodi, and Salumbar.

Rajasthan minister Jogaram Patel stated that these districts and divisions were created prior to elections without adequate assessment of their practicality.

Essential aspects such as financial resources and population were neglected, with many districts lacking even 6-7 tehsils, raising doubts about their necessity.

Patel emphasized that no new administrative positions or office facilities were established for these regions, and attempts to introduce 18 departmental posts in each district became a financial strain on the state.

A review committee concluded that these districts were not sustainable.

In the meeting, no decision was made regarding the recruitment of Sub Inspectors (SI).

Law Minister Jogaram Patel commented, "The issue of SI recruitment was not included in today's agenda, as it is currently under judicial review. Furthermore, the Cabinet has decided to extend the validity of the Common Eligibility Test (CET) score from one year to three years."

Additionally, it was announced that a three-month initiative will be launched to enroll new beneficiaries in the Food Security Scheme.

The ministers also indicated that the Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis, and Zilla Parishads in the state will undergo reorganization, as discussed during the Cabinet meeting.

The Cabinet meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
