Jaipur, Feb 4 (NationPress) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed his sincere appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for the substantial allocation of Rs 9,960 crore for the state's railway infrastructure. He highlighted the significance of this funding in enhancing modernisation, redeveloping stations, and expanding infrastructure to improve passenger amenities.
Sharma underscored that fortifying the transport network in the state is essential for realizing the vision of a developed India, especially Rajasthan.
He pointed out that the current budget allocation represents a staggering 14.5 times increase compared to the average annual railway budget of just Rs 682 crore received between 2009 and 2014.
"Both the Central and state governments are committed to enhancing Rajasthan's transport and traffic infrastructure to fulfill the vision of a developed India and Rajasthan. This allocation of Rs 9,960 crore in the Central Railway Budget is 14.5 times greater than the average annual funding of Rs 682 crore from 2009 to 2014," he stated.
In a previous address via video conferencing, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav highlighted the remarkable increase in the railway budget compared to the UPA era, where Rajasthan received a mere Rs 666 crore.
He noted that the state, boasting a rail network larger than Denmark, is witnessing rapid growth, including developments on 85 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and the implementation of the Kavach safety system across 10,000 locomotives.
The minister also mentioned that Rs 2.52 lakh crore has been earmarked for Railways in the 2025 general budget, with the government firmly dedicated to accelerating infrastructure growth without any financial limitations. The strategy for railway budgeting has significantly advanced, ensuring that no project experiences funding shortages.
