Rajasthan Experiencing Cold Wave as Intermittent Rain Hits the State

Jaipur, Dec 24 (NationPress) The desert state of Rajasthan is currently feeling the bite of a cold wave as intermittent rain showers sweep across numerous regions, causing temperatures to plummet. These unseasonal rains have exacerbated the winter chill, particularly in the eastern and western areas of the state.

As per meteorological officials, light rainfall was noted in multiple locations. The town of Bhadra in the Hanumangarh district recorded the highest rainfall at 9 mm.

Alongside the rain, several regions reported dense fog, which has further contributed to the chill.

The cold wave has been notably severe in western Rajasthan, where various areas have experienced cold to very cold days, while parts of eastern Rajasthan noted cold days.

Dungarpur stood out as a climatic paradox, reporting the highest maximum temperature in the state at 26.1°C, while simultaneously recording the lowest minimum temperature at 5.0°C.

The cold spell has been particularly intense in cities like Ganganagar, Churu, and Pilani (Jhunjhunu), where daytime maximum temperatures struggled to reach 17°C.

In many parts of the state, maximum temperatures have dropped by as much as 10°C, intensifying the chill and leaving residents to deal with harsh winter conditions.

The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has issued a yellow alert for dense fog across 18 districts, including key cities like Jaipur, Alwar, Sikar, and Jodhpur.

On Tuesday morning, dense fog blanketed these regions, hampering visibility and increasing the biting cold.

The department has also warned of potential rainfall across 27 districts, including Jaipur, on December 27.

With unusual weather patterns continuing, the residents of Rajasthan are preparing for more cold and wet conditions in the upcoming days.

The Met department has indicated that active Western Disturbances will re-enter Rajasthan on December 26, bringing the likelihood of cloud cover and light to moderate rain in the southeastern regions of the state on December 26-27.
