Jaipur, July 8 (NationPress) The proceedings regarding the Sub Inspector (SI) Recruitment-2021 paper leak case in the Rajasthan High Court remained unresolved on Tuesday.
During the session, senior attorney R.N. Mathur, who is representing the chosen candidates, argued that the situation is quite simple. He asserted that the decision not to annul the recruitment, which was made at the Chief Minister's level, has not been contested in the petition, thus warranting an outright dismissal of the case.
However, Justice Sameer Jain expressed a different opinion, stating, “This is not a straightforward issue.” He highlighted that the case involves serious allegations of collusion among coaching institutes, examination centers, and members of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC).
The court indicated that it is reviewing both the petition’s maintainability and its merits. Representing the state government, Advocate General Rajendra Prasad contended that there were no significant irregularities throughout the recruitment process. He mentioned that the government has taken the necessary steps by launching investigations and dismissing those candidates found to be involved in the irregularities.
“The government’s conclusion has been reached after thorough consideration of all aspects,” he added. The state also asserted that the petitioners had hidden information and that the recruitment process was not marred by any institutional failures.
Officials questioned how the petitioners acquired government documents without submitting any RTI application, suggesting potential misconduct. The court has scheduled further hearings for Wednesday, when the government will continue its arguments, followed by submissions from the selected candidates. The RPSC had announced recruitment for 859 posts of Sub Inspector and Platoon Commander in 2021.
Following the emergence of paper leak allegations during the recruitment exam, the government delegated the investigation to the Special Operations Group (SOG). The SOG arrested multiple individuals, including trainee SIs, leading to an influx of petitions in the High Court seeking to annul the recruitment.
Under the guidance of Justice Sameer Jain, the High Court issued status quo orders regarding the recruitment process on November 18, January 6, and January 9. Complying with the court's directives, the Police Headquarters issued an order on January 10, 2025, suspending field training for the selected candidates. This suspension remains in place.
