Agartala, July 13 (NationPress) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Sunday that remarkable progress has been achieved and continues to unfold under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East Policy.

During the inauguration and Bhumi Pujan of the 51-Shakti Peethas Park at Banduar in southern Tripura, he highlighted the Prime Minister's focus on enhancing tourism, emphasizing its contribution of 7 percent to the nation’s GDP.

Accompanied by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, and other dignitaries, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for a significant Rs 97.70 crore project aimed at promoting spiritual heritage through the park.

Saha noted that with support from the Union Tourism Ministry and a Rs 179 crore loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), numerous tourism sites in Tripura are undergoing development. He mentioned that this infrastructure enhancement will create numerous direct and indirect employment opportunities.

As the home portfolio holder, Saha revealed plans to recruit 6,000 Special Executives for various sectors, alongside deploying tourist police at sites to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors. He acknowledged the Prime Minister’s vision for infrastructure development, stating that since January, he has inaugurated or laid foundation stones for projects totaling over Rs 771 crore.

He remarked: “The Prime Minister has provided us with a HIRA (Highway, Internet, Railways and Airways) model of development. Significant advancements have been made in national highways, internet access, railways, and air travel. We must also leverage our resources for further development.” According to the Chief Minister, Tripura ranks second in GSDP and per capita income in the northeastern region.

Spanning 15 acres, the 51-Shakti Peethas Park will include a digital museum, amphitheater, sky bridge, ample parking, and one of the tallest statues of Nataraj. Minister Chowdhury added that replicas of the 51 Shakti Peethas will be featured in the park, which are currently located across Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and various regions of India.
