The explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday sparked panic throughout the national capital, prompting high alert status for authorities in the Delhi-NCR region, as well as in Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai.
The injured victims have been taken to LNJP Hospital. Reports indicate a high alert has been declared for Delhi, Mumbai, and Uttar Pradesh. The Delhi Fire Department reported hearing blast-like sounds before receiving alerts about the incident.
Importantly, earlier that morning, the J&K Police dismantled an interstate transnational terror module associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind terror organizations, leading to the seizure of 2,900 kg of explosives, two assault rifles, pistols, timers, and other materials in the Faridabad area of Haryana, close to New Delhi, with seven arrests made thus far.
According to the J&K Police, this operation was initiated following the discovery of Jaish-e-Mohammad posters threatening security forces in various locations in Bunpora Nowgam, Srinagar, on October 19.
“The operation resulted in the capture of seven key operatives and the discovery of a significant stockpile of arms, ammunition, and nearly three tons of improvised explosive device materials during coordinated searches across multiple states. The module was engaged in identifying, radicalizing, and recruiting individuals into terrorist ranks, as well as raising funds, coordinating logistics, and acquiring weapons, ammunition, and explosives,” stated the police.
This seizure, followed by the explosion at the Red Fort, occurred just one day before the second phase of the Bihar assembly elections.
