Nagpur, May 20 (NationPress) In a remarkable initiative aimed at enhancing India’s railway infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually launch 103 revamped railway stations across the nation on May 22 as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Among those stations being inaugurated on Thursday, five belong to the South East Central Railway (SECR) network, including Seoni, Dongargarh, Itwari, Chanda Fort, and Amgaon.
The Itwari station, situated in Nagpur, Maharashtra, is now officially named 'Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari Junction' and stands out as a key highlight of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This station has undergone significant redevelopment with a budget of Rs 12.39 crore, focusing on modern facilities while embracing cultural elements.
Post-redevelopment, the station now boasts wider roads, an improved traffic management system, and a dedicated parking area for two-wheelers. Prioritizing passenger comfort, enhancements such as contemporary ticket counters, spacious waiting areas, specialized amenities for Divyangjans, a Jan Aushadhi Kendra, and a Rail Coach Restaurant have been introduced.
The station's design showcases a harmonious blend of traditional and modern architectural styles, inspired by the rich folk art of Vidarbha and the legacy of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
According to Divisional Railway Manager Deepak Kumar Gupta, "This initiative is the culmination of collaborative efforts from local communities, architects, engineers, and artists. The architecture draws from the heritage of Subhash Chandra Bose and the folk arts of Vidarbha, while cleanliness has been prioritized. Passengers will now experience world-class facilities at this station."
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to equip railway stations across India with cutting-edge passenger amenities, enhanced safety features, and improved technical capabilities, alongside aesthetic improvements.
