In Hyderabad, the Chief Minister's wife Geetha Reddy — the niece of the late leader — offered floral tributes at Jaipal Reddy's samadhi, Spoorthi Sthal, on Necklace Road. Telangana ministers and Congress leaders also assembled at the site to pay their respects.
What the Chief Minister Said
In his message, Revanth Reddy described Jaipal Reddy as 'an unassuming political leader, an exceptional parliamentarian endowed with remarkable oratory skills, and a leader who dedicated his life to serving democratic values.' He noted that Jaipal Reddy's zeal for public service and commitment to the welfare of the people would continue to guide future generations.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Jaipal Reddy's role in fulfilling the aspirations for a separate Telangana state and his exemplary service across multiple Union ministerial portfolios.
Ministers Recall His Parliamentary Legacy
Minister for Industry and Information Technology D. Sridhar Babu said Jaipal Reddy was a 'great parliamentarian' who demonstrated a distinctive ministerial style across portfolios, whether in government or opposition. Notably, on the occasion of this 7th death anniversary, Sridhar Babu credited Jaipal Reddy — in his capacity as Union Urban Affairs Minister — with conceptualising the Hyderabad Metro Rail project during the then-Congress government. 'Many times, he was awarded the title of the best parliamentarian in the entire Parliament,' Sridhar Babu said.
Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar recalled that Jaipal Reddy raised public issues in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha with clarity and incisive oratory, earning him repeated recognition as the best parliamentarian. Prabhakar said he was personally inspired by Jaipal Reddy when he entered the 15th Lok Sabha, and credited the leader with making 'tremendous efforts' in securing the passage of the Telangana Bill in Parliament.
