Patna, Nov 29 (NationPress) Karnaveer Singh Yadav, known as Lallu Mukhiya, a prominent leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) from the Barh Assembly area near Patna, presented himself before the Barh civil court on Saturday.
He had been on the run in connection with a 2023 murder case, with police conducting ongoing operations to apprehend him.
During the assembly elections, the Supreme Court had granted him temporary protection from arrest, which led him to go into hiding.
Recently, police had even seized his residence during their search efforts.
With the Supreme Court denying his bail application and the period of his relief coming to an end, Lallu Mukhiya finally appeared before the court to surrender.
He was taken into custody as per the court’s instructions and, following nearly six hours of legal procedures, was dispatched to Barh jail under judicial custody.
Lallu Mukhiya is the principal suspect named in a murder case registered in 2023 and has eluded law enforcement since then.
Although he was granted temporary relief from arrest on the grounds of contesting the elections, both the Supreme Court and subsequently the High Court turned down his bail requests, leaving him with no choice but to surrender.
A significant figure in the local politics of Barh and Mokama, Lallu Mukhiya was previously viewed as a close associate of influential strongman Anant Singh.
He has often claimed that Munger MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, has been orchestrating politically motivated cases against him.
With his surrender, law enforcement and the judiciary are expected to proceed with the subsequent phases of legal actions in the murder case.
The Barh and Mokama areas gained attention during the recently concluded Bihar Assembly Election 2025 due to the notorious Dularchand Yadav murder case.
Dularchand Yadav was purportedly run over by a vehicle during the election campaign for JDU candidate Bahubali Anant Singh and Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi.
He was openly backing the Jan Suraaj candidate, and hostilities between the factions heightened on October 30, the day of the incident.
In the aftermath, unidentified assailants damaged the vehicle of the RJD candidate in the Barh Assembly constituency on October 31, escalating political tensions in the vicinity.
Anant Singh is currently incarcerated in Patna’s Beur Central Jail concerning the murder of Dularchand Yadav.
