The D.J. Halli police have taken action against the accused who were apprehended on February 21 after footage of their reckless behavior went viral on social media.
This incident has sparked concerns regarding the lack of respect for law enforcement among the accused.
According to police sources, the rowdy sheet was filed after collecting pertinent information about the individuals involved.
The police have also summoned the parents of the accused to secure an undertaking.
The rowdy sheet includes names such as Nayeem Pasha, Arafat, Sahil, Adnan, Asif, Sameer, Jubair, Rihan, Hussain, Junaid, Ayaan, Aftab, and two others.
The events transpired during the Shab-e-Barat, observed on February 13.
Although extensive security measures were established from Tannery Road Junction to Nagawara Junction in Bengaluru, the accused ventured beyond D.J. Halli and K.G. Halli, heading towards the Outer Ring Road, Ramamurthy Nagar, K.R. Puram, and Avalahalli while executing stunts.
The group wielded swords and machetes, performed stunts, recorded videos, and one individual shared the footage on Instagram.
Police have registered a case under the Arms Act at the D.J. Halli police station. 11 individuals were initially arrested, and seven bikes were confiscated. Some suspects attempted to evade capture but were eventually apprehended.
DCP D. Devaraja emphasized that Shab-e-Barat is a revered time when individuals visit burial grounds to honor their ancestors.
However, he condemned such acts of intimidation on the streets in the name of celebration, asserting that strict measures will be implemented to discourage youth from such conduct.
State Home Minister G. Parameshwara responded to the situation by stating, "This is against the law, and the police will undertake necessary actions. The persons involved will face appropriate charges."
"Such individuals will surely be prosecuted. We will not permit anyone to take the law into their own hands. We maintain vigilance and respond to such incidents promptly," he asserted.
The BJP has criticized the Congress government for its recurring inability to instill a sense of legal deterrence among the populace.
